Épée – a precision weapon for technical fencing
Épée is a thrusting weapon designed exclusively for hits with the tip. Unlike foils or sabers, in épée the entire body of the opponent is a valid target area, which makes this discipline very tactically demanding.
A typical fencing épée consists of several parts:
- blade
- guard
- handle (pistol grip or French grip)
- pommel
- electronic tip for the scoring system
High-quality assembly ensures optimal balance, precision, and a long service life for the weapon.
How to choose the right epee?
When selecting a fencing epee, we recommend considering several important factors:
- the fencer’s level (beginner, advanced, competitor)
- handle type
- blade quality and flexibility
- competition certification (e.g., FIE)
- overall balance of the weapon
A well-chosen foil significantly affects control over the weapon and comfort while fencing.
